Kings & Queens of Scotland

Prior to 900 Scotland was split into four kingdoms:

• Pictland
• Dalriada
• Strathclyde
• Lothian

The first two merged around 900 AD to form the larger kingdom of Alba; Lothian and Strathclyde merged during the 11th century to form the kingdom of Scotia.

• House of Alpin (843 - 942)
• House of Dunkeld (942 - 1058)
• House of Canmore (1058 - 1290)
• Houses of Balliol and Bruce (1290 - 1371)
• House of Stewart/Stuart (1371 - 1714)
