Historic Buildings in Scotland

Early Structures

The earliest structures that man was responsible for, other than their own homes, are Standing Stones, including Stone Circles, and Burial Mounds.

Various structures have been discovered throughout Scotland as means of defence from invaders. These include Crannogs (dating from c.400BC), Brochs (c.100 BC), Duns or Hill Forts, Souterrains and Wheelhouses.
